The Mid-Range Rugged Phone
The CAT S42 is a straight-forward, budget-friendly rugged phone entry from Caterpillar for 2020. This refresh of the Caterpillar S40 lineup this year is still a mid-range smartphone but more inexpensive and mostly aimed at consumers that want to try out rugged phones and don't want to spend a fortune doing so.
The device is not as solidly spec'd as it's bigger and more premium brother, the S62 Pro, but this phone can still keep up and runs on the latest software - Android 10 - right out of the box. The S42 isn’t massively powerful or blindingly quick, but for most users, it will run the Android apps they need effectively well enough.
The S42 is a very admirable device for those that need a basic rugged smartphone who are likely to take it into dusty, wet, or harsh environments. People that work in the construction or industrial field of work will be confident carrying this phone around, with peace of mind that it will not be easily shattered when dropped or hit by a hard object.
